Heck: Nevadans Are Sick and Tired of One Set of Rules for Them and Another for Politicians Like Clinton and Cortez Masto

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Joe Heck released the following reaction to FBI Director James Comey's recommendation not to prosecute Hillary Clinton despite evidence she broke law and violated rules.

"Although I personally respect Director Comey, I have to say his comments this morning defy explanation. He said the "investigation looked at whether there is evidence classified information was improperly stored or transmitted on that personal system, in violation of a federal statute making it a felony to mishandle classified information either intentionally or in a grossly negligent way, or a second statute making it a misdemeanor to knowingly remove classified information from appropriate systems or storage facilities.'

"He then outlined all the evidence of how Secretary Clinton willfully used a private email system to mishandle classified information in a grossly negligent way and included "it is possible that hostile actors gained access to Secretary Clinton's personal email account.'

"Comey concluded with the painfully obvious double standard: "To be clear, this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances, a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences. To the contrary, those individuals are often subject to security or administrative sanctions. But that is not what we are deciding now.'

"The message here -- as it has been throughout her career -- is that Hillary Clinton is too big to fail. People in lesser positions would have been punished, but she gets to run for President of the United States.

"This is entirely consistent with the career of my opponent, Catherine Cortez Masto, who has supported Clinton throughout this criminal investigation. As Nevada's Attorney General, Ms. Cortez Masto abused her power by prosecuting a political opponent for far less, while letting multiple fellow Democrats off with slaps on their wrists.

"Nevadans are sick and tired of one set of rules for them and another for politicians like Clinton and Cortez Masto. We will make our voices heard this November."
